'Capsaicin in red chillies fights prostate cancer'

'The substance that makes red chilies hot, capsaicin, can induce prostate cancer cells to kill themselves, according to research by U.S. and Japanese cancer experts. The researchers, reporting in the journal, Cancer Research, said capsaicin led 80 per cent of human prostate cancer cells growing in mice to destroy themselves in a process known in medical terminology as apoptosis. They found that prostate cancer tumors in mice administered capsaicin were about one-fifth in size compared to such tumors in mice that were not administered the substance...' More
